 • Baptisms: The Great Vigil of Easter — Saturday, April 4th
 • Confirmations: Pentecost Sunday — Sunday, May 24th

Who is Catechism for?

All baptisms before the age of maturity are based upon the faith of their parents or guardians to some extent. While children grow in their understanding and love of the Lord over time, their faith
is not yet fully their own. Yes, as children grow, we pray that they increase in their knowledge and love of the Lord, but until maturity, they cannot say their faith is entirely their own. Instead, their faith depends on what is handed down to them day by day. For this reason, catechism is not required before the Baptism of children.

When a child reaches maturity, and they have received The Faith once delivered personally, they are called by the Church to receive the sacrament of Confirmation—the liturgical expression of that mature declaration of faith.

Each year, anyone who falls into one of these three groups is invited to join catechism:

  • Teenagers or adults who have reached maturity and wish to be baptized.
  • Those seeking Confirmation who were baptized as children or infants but have not yet been catechized.
  • Those seeking Confirmation who were baptized as adults but have not yet been catechized.

If you have questions or would like to talk it through, please reach out to Fr. Robert, who would be happy to connect with you. robert@redeemeranglican.ca

We’re grateful to walk this journey of faith with you.
